Under the distribution agreement with Enterprise Life, Transitions will sell funeral insurance policies which at the point of claim, will be used to cover the arrangement cost of a funeral.

In the event of death

We offer our services to you when you first contact us, either by phone, email, WhatsApp or come in personally to our Haatso Office.

On initial contact, we will ask a few questions; whether the deceased died at home or at the hospital… based on which we can arrange for transfer of the deceased to our premises.

The funeral arrangement will start from this point and usually the arranger will ascertain the most suitable time for the family so that all required services can be provided.

As dedicated professionals, we are here to help and advice in whatever way we can, providing 24-hour personal service, all year through.

Most people prefer funeral arrangements to reflect the personality and character of the deceased. This often requires time and dedication. We are here for all that and more in your time of grief.


Transitions handles Everything Funeral including flowers, hymn sheets, insertions in local newspapers, catering and much more.

We also have the Weekday Service (Monday to Thursday) and night Vigil (Wake Keeping). These services are heavily discounted for every pocket that comes into contact with Transitions.

General Manager

Genevieve started her career at Enterprise Insurance, Kumasi Branch as a Client Relations Officer in June 2005, handling portfolios in sales and marketing, customer services and claims. She progressed to the role of Client Services Executive in 2009, where she was in charge of the claims function.
In March 2012, she was appointed Project Coordinator for Enterprise Funerals (Transitions), a position which she executed creditably, raising Transitions from being a project to a full-fledged company, which officially commenced operations February 2017.

In June 2016, she was appointed as Head of Operations, a position she held until her appointment as the General Manager, in January 2020.

Genevieve, holds, an M.Phil. In Agriculture Administration from the University of Ghana, Legon and B.Sc. Agriculture from the University of Cape Coast. She has also completed a Business Management Development Program from the University of Stellenbosch in Cape Town, South Africa. She is a Chartered Insurer, an Associate of Chartered Institute of Insurance, (CII, UK) and a member of the Chartered Insurance Ladies Association of Ghana (CILAG).

Paul was appointed as Finance Manager of Transitions in 2016. He joined Transitions with vast experience in Risk Management, Business setup, Financial Accounting and Management Accounting.

Paul has several years of experience in Finance roles having worked in the Banking and Investment industry in Senior Management Capacity.

He is a Chartered Accountant and a member of Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), UK. He holds Masters in Business Administration degree in Finance from the University of Cape Coast.

Banister Tay is the current Branch Manager with Enterprise Funeral Services (Transitions). Prior to his appointment He was the Unit Head of Special Markets Division, Enterprise Life.
He holds a Bachelor Degree in Business Administration from University of Professional Studies and Statistics from University of Ghana, Legon. He also holds Advance Diploma in Insurance and Master's degree in Divinity from Trinity Theological Seminary in Legon, Ghana.
He is a Reverend Minister and founder of Heal Our Nations, a young faith based organization giving hope, encouragement and direction to many underprivileged youths within the poor communities in Accra.

Enterprise Group unveils Transitions funeral home
Enterprise Group unveils Transitions funeral home

The Enterprise Group has launched Transitions a funeral home, which is a comprehensive funeral management wing of Enterprise, to offer efficient and effective funeral arrangements for the dead with the provision of all funeral necessities.

The ultramodern facility, which houses all the needs for funeral celebrations, comes with hearses, caskets showroom, embalming room, a mortuary, a 316 expandable capacity Chapel and reception facilities.

Madam Jodene Smith, the General Manager of Transitions, said the company provided pre-funeral services, an insurance product suitable for the needs of an individual and a family.

She noted that the services provided by the company included embalming, washing, dressing, beautification, a hearse service, a Chapel and reception facilities among others saying, the company puts everything together as a package.

Madam Smith said at the time of death, the client or family member needed to call and inform Transitions and they would be available to move the departed to the premises of the funeral home for further and better preparation towards the funeral celebrations.

She said the company, which had been in operation since 2012, had provided services to many families.

It has a mortuary with a holding capacity of 108 bodies at a time with individual drawers because the company believed in a dignified care of a deceased.

She said there were numerous researches into the funeral industry to find out the details of cost involved in planning funerals in the country and they came up with the best services ever.

Madam Smith said it was significant for everyone to plan for the moment of death because "the better we plan for death, the better life will be for the families and loved ones we leave behind".

At the unveiling of the facility, Mr Yoofi Grant, the Chief Executive officer (CEO) of the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC), said the services of Transitions was a highly needed one in the country because it had come to bring efficiency to the cost of funerals.

He said the Enterprise group was a company, which had concerned itself with the entire lifecycle of its clients taking care of their needs from birth to the grave and that the funeral home was an institution prepared to give an individual a decent departure.

He commended the Enterprise Group for the venture because the funeral home had come to add value to one of the most culturally active exercises in the Ghanaian culture, adding beauty and decency.

Mr Grant said the Akufo-Addo-led government had been concerned with the citizens and had shown commitment to adding value to the Ghanaian life and anyone who does business within the country.

He said: "At GIPC currently, we are engaged in reforms that will open up Ghana to be a fantastic business opportunity as the President had said that Ghana should be the best place to do business in Africa and become a hub for West Africa."

He said the Enterprise Group as Foreign Direct Investment business had embraced Ghanaian capabilities and has become the longest serving Ghanaian insurance company and even promises more sustainability in the sector.

Mr Grant urged the management of the funeral home to consider expanding its operations to other regions apart from the capital city.

Mr Keli Gadzekpo, the Chief Executive Officer of Enterprise Group, said Transitions was a very significant addition to the range of products and services because as a company, "we want to be at your advantage from cradle to grave, thus when you are born to when you depart."

He said: "We set the Transitions up so that you will not have to worry about the many things you have to do in preparing for a funeral.

"To benefit from the range of services provided, there are two options; thus buying an assurance policy in preparation for the unfortunate or as soon as it happens, you call the Transitions team and the services will be delivered."

Mr Gadzekpo urged other potential investors who may join the funeral management industry to approach it with all dignity because the bereaved family were most vulnerable during the incidence of death.

Caution to employer refusal to register from Sam Pee Yalley CEO NPRA
The Chief Executive Officer of the National Pensions Regulatory Authority (NPRA), Sam Pee Yalley, speaking at the Citi Fm Roundtable series on pensions on 24th May 2013 issued a stern warning to employers who have still not registered their employees on the new pension scheme. Mr. Yalley stated that "effective 1st July, 2013, the NPRA will prosecute any employer who has refused or failed to register on any scheme. They had better take this warning seriously because their workers will not have a benefit of the full reforms," he stated.

Kwame Ofori , who held the office of Executive Director of the General Business subsidiary, Enterprise Insurance from 2010 to 2018, will become Executive Director of a new Specialist Risk Business being established by the Group.

A fellow of the Insurance Institute of Canada (FCIP), Kwame holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree and an Executive MBA in Marketing from the University of Ghana. Under his leadership, Enterprise Insurance consistently delivered Underwriting Profit and consolidated its position as the largest privately owned General Insurance company in the country. A seasoned business leader, Kwame has also held a number of positions within the Insurance Industry including Vice President of Ghana Insurers Association and Chairman of the Ecowas Brown Card Bureau.

Mrs. Ernestina Abeh has been appointed as Managing Director of Enterprise Insurance. Prior to her appointment, she was the General Manager, Operations, a position she has held since 2010.

Tina is a Chartered Insurer from the Chartered Institute of Insurance (UK). She holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Ghana and an Executive MBA from The Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration. Her promotion to Managing Director is after over 20 years' experience in the Insurance Industry, most of which was at Senior Management level.

Mrs. Akosua Ansah-Antwi , previously the Head of Broker & Southern Sector, has been promoted to General Manager, Operations.

Akosua is a Chartered Insurer from the Chartered Institute of Insurance (UK) and has been in the mainstream insurance business since she joined Enterprise Insurance in 2000.

Enterprise Life Assurance Company Limited, which is the market leader in the Life Insurance Industry, has also seen a number of significant changes:
Mr. Francis Akoto-Yirenkyi, previously General Manager Operations, now takes up the newly created position of General Manager, Distribution. The position was created to bring more focus to the retail segment of the market. A chartered Insurer from the Chartered Institute of Insurance (UK), Francis has 13 years' experience in the Life Insurance industry under his belt.

Mrs. Solace Odamtten-Sowah joined Enterprise Life in 2008. A Chartered Insurer also from the Chartered Institute of Insurance (UK), Solace has been part of Senior Management for 7 years. She has been promoted to General Manager, Operations.

Where relevant, the foregoing appointments are subject to regulatory approval.
The appointments will further strengthen the Executive Management Team of the Group and its subsidiaries and help in fulfilling the mission to "provide all who come in contact with us, their desired advantage".

What is a Funeral Plan?

How to Apply

All you have to do is come into one of our offices and a dedicated Arranging Officer will assist you.

If the death occurs in a hospital

The hospital will contact the next of kin and make arrangements for a doctor to sign the Medical Certificate stating the cause of death. The certificate and any personal belongings of the deceased should be collected from the hospital administration department.

If the death occurs at home

The first person to contact is the deceased's doctor and the Ghana Police Service, if the doctor has attended you may then call us. If the cause of death is quite clear the doctor will issue:

   • a Medical Certificate to show the cause of death; and
   • a Formal Notice that a doctor has signed the Medical Certificate and advice on registering the death.
   • If the GPS may refer the case to the coroner if COD is unknown.

If the death is unexpected

If the doctor in attendance cannot state the cause, he or she will inform the Coroner who will arrange to examine the deceased. In the majority of cases death will be attributed to natural causes and there will, therefore be no need for an inquest. Under normal circumstances funeral arrangements can be made as usual.
