Enterprise Group unveils Transitions funeral home
Enterprise Group unveils Transitions funeral home

The Enterprise Group has launched Transitions a funeral home, which is a comprehensive funeral management wing of Enterprise, to offer efficient and effective funeral arrangements for the dead with the provision of all funeral necessities.

The ultramodern facility, which houses all the needs for funeral celebrations, comes with hearses, caskets showroom, embalming room, a mortuary, a 316 expandable capacity Chapel and reception facilities.

Madam Jodene Smith, the General Manager of Transitions, said the company provided pre-funeral services, an insurance product suitable for the needs of an individual and a family.

She noted that the services provided by the company included embalming, washing, dressing, beautification, a hearse service, a Chapel and reception facilities among others saying, the company puts everything together as a package.

Madam Smith said at the time of death, the client or family member needed to call and inform Transitions and they would be available to move the departed to the premises of the funeral home for further and better preparation towards the funeral celebrations.

She said the company, which had been in operation since 2012, had provided services to many families.

It has a mortuary with a holding capacity of 108 bodies at a time with individual drawers because the company believed in a dignified care of a deceased.

She said there were numerous researches into the funeral industry to find out the details of cost involved in planning funerals in the country and they came up with the best services ever.

Madam Smith said it was significant for everyone to plan for the moment of death because "the better we plan for death, the better life will be for the families and loved ones we leave behind".

At the unveiling of the facility, Mr Yoofi Grant, the Chief Executive officer (CEO) of the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC), said the services of Transitions was a highly needed one in the country because it had come to bring efficiency to the cost of funerals.

He said the Enterprise group was a company, which had concerned itself with the entire lifecycle of its clients taking care of their needs from birth to the grave and that the funeral home was an institution prepared to give an individual a decent departure.

He commended the Enterprise Group for the venture because the funeral home had come to add value to one of the most culturally active exercises in the Ghanaian culture, adding beauty and decency.

Mr Grant said the Akufo-Addo-led government had been concerned with the citizens and had shown commitment to adding value to the Ghanaian life and anyone who does business within the country.

He said: "At GIPC currently, we are engaged in reforms that will open up Ghana to be a fantastic business opportunity as the President had said that Ghana should be the best place to do business in Africa and become a hub for West Africa."

He said the Enterprise Group as Foreign Direct Investment business had embraced Ghanaian capabilities and has become the longest serving Ghanaian insurance company and even promises more sustainability in the sector.

Mr Grant urged the management of the funeral home to consider expanding its operations to other regions apart from the capital city.

Mr Keli Gadzekpo, the Chief Executive Officer of Enterprise Group, said Transitions was a very significant addition to the range of products and services because as a company, "we want to be at your advantage from cradle to grave, thus when you are born to when you depart."

He said: "We set the Transitions up so that you will not have to worry about the many things you have to do in preparing for a funeral.

"To benefit from the range of services provided, there are two options; thus buying an assurance policy in preparation for the unfortunate or as soon as it happens, you call the Transitions team and the services will be delivered."

Mr Gadzekpo urged other potential investors who may join the funeral management industry to approach it with all dignity because the bereaved family were most vulnerable during the incidence of death.

How to Apply

All you have to do is come into one of our offices and a dedicated Arranging Officer will assist you.

If the death occurs in a hospital

The hospital will contact the next of kin and make arrangements for a doctor to sign the Medical Certificate stating the cause of death. The certificate and any personal belongings of the deceased should be collected from the hospital administration department.

If the death occurs at home

The first person to contact is the deceased's doctor and the Ghana Police Service, if the doctor has attended you may then call us. If the cause of death is quite clear the doctor will issue:

   • a Medical Certificate to show the cause of death; and
   • a Formal Notice that a doctor has signed the Medical Certificate and advice on registering the death.
   • If the GPS may refer the case to the coroner if COD is unknown.

If the death is unexpected

If the doctor in attendance cannot state the cause, he or she will inform the Coroner who will arrange to examine the deceased. In the majority of cases death will be attributed to natural causes and there will, therefore be no need for an inquest. Under normal circumstances funeral arrangements can be made as usual.
